DIY Book Page Trees

There are many different versions of book page trees on the internet. I really like a lot of them but had a different idea of how to do it.

Materials needed:
book for book pages
decorative scissors
regular scissors
clear tape
wooden dowel
glitter glue (optional)

I started my using decorative scissors to cut different size circles out of book pages. I would rip out a handful of pages and cut them at the same time (as thick as you think your scissors can cut at one time).

I would line my book page circles up by size then cut out pie shapes in the stacks with regular scissors. This will help make your cones.

I would then start with the large circles and twist them to make a cone and tape them closed. Try to leave a small hole in the middle so the cone can be placed on a dowel. Thread the cone onto the dowel. Continue this method from large circles to small circles.

If wanted, use glitter glue on the edges of the book pages.

Some tips:
Try out different size pie cuts for each circle size, it makes your tree more dimensional if some cones are more tightly wrapped than others.
When your tree is done, turn it upside down and use a hot glue gun to lock the botton cone in place underneath. This will help your tree stand more fimly.

Like I said, there are many cute versions of book page trees on the internet. Here are a few:

I think I might try out this last one. I'll let you know how it goes.

  35. I just saw trees like this yesterday at Anthro and was standing there staring at them, thinking of trying it myself, but these things take time, especially when you are trying to figure it out while you're doing it. Hope I have the time - thanks for the tip.
